Hand tools are devices that are used for doing work on some material or else a physical system through the use of the hands, which is to be expected really. Such hand tools are either used manually by using physical force, or alternatively they are powered using electrical current to drive the motor within. Just about all types of tools may well be hand tools with many undergoing some kind of modification to turn them into power tools. These are propelled by means of the power that is provided from motors or even engines, as opposed to the mechanical action that is powered by means of human strength. Of course, in modern times powered hand tools are almost taken for granted, it is rare that people will use manual labour if they can at all avoid doing so. For most DIY enthusiasts it is a dream to be in charge of a tool chest that is full to the brim with these great things.
I remember years ago owning a hand tool that was designed for making wall plug holes in really hard surfaces, the method was to hit the top of the shaft with a hammer and turn the tool tip during the process. Now that was fine when I was much younger than I am today and electric drills where quite expensive back then. You bet I wouldn’t do that now, especially when good hand tools have become so affordable. The best thing is the amount of hand tools that exist in this time with respect to the variety available to consumers. However, that also brings with it an inherent problem and that is sorting out the good makes from the bad. It also involves working out a true bargain against quality of make. For those reasons it is better to stay with makes that have a good reputation, such as Bostitch, then you know you are getting quality for your money and that they will give you many years of use. Thank goodness hand tools are so good and affordable now!
